Barriers…

Amazingly true when i look back in hindsight from this perspective. Congratulations to all those who have broken their barriers.

Hilarious article from a Microsoft champion, who starting using M$’s products when I did… at MS-DOS 5.1. No, actually, I started at MS-DOS 3.22, but that’s another story.
Someone recently commented that I have an American accent after coming back from Silicon Valley. I was like, really? So I asked my girlfriend, Christine, who’s American, and she says no… you don’t speak with an American accent. And she did a demo - and yeap, my emphasis are in different parts of the sentence.
But yeap, I agree that to the best of my ability, I try not to speak with a Singaporean accent. I’m actually trying to adopt a more neutral accent (whatever that means). The basic reason is: so that Christine won’t have difficulty understanding me!
Do you know that when i speak a little Singlish with a Singlish accent in America, people can’t even tell that I’m speaking, basically, English? They think I’m speaking Mandarin (because I’m chinese, not because they think they hear Mandarin). Even Christine, who is effectively bilingual in Chinese and English (wayyy more so than I am), can’t understand a thing when I start blabbering in Singlish.
But this guy, who makes his living out of Microsoft’s technologies and defends Microsoft religiously, does so anyway! How apt for a Microsoft that’s spiraling downwards…
Oh, it’s about Microsoft’s answer to Google’s Adwords, for the internet marketers reading my blog. $100 worth of free advertising! Check it out, use it, and get the hell away after that. ![]()
And yes, it’s a little late, but I wanted it to be after everyone was more sober after the crazy celebrations that happened in the first few days. The days of partying, new year resolutions and breaking of new years resolutions (especially if no alcohol is one of those resolutions, like a friend of mine).
People become stronger because they have memories they can’t forget… this is growth.
Never again will I give up my memories, for they are mine, and they are but history.
Being in touch with your emotions can be a good thing.
Some of my friends go “i found my better half”, and then some of my friends go “i found my other half”. Then there’s others that go “I found the one”. So is it half, or is it one? Haha ok I admit that’s lame, but seriously, the question is: should it be two halfs of a whole, or two complementary wholes?
Maybe you don’t get the question - let me explain. Some people believe that between couples, you can never ever have enough time together. You just want to spend every single minute of your life together with the one you love. Others feel that a couple should lead independent, almost separate lives, and spend just a part of their lives together, in some ways, being a totally complementary pair. So what’s your opinion?
