Facial 3D imaging
Mova, a new company founded by Steve Perlman, co-founder of Web TV, promises to break the last frontier of digital computer imaging - that of human faces. With just 44 digital photographs, Contour - their product - can combine these photos into a 3D digital image that can be digitally manipulated without painstaking touch-up work.
Now those digital cartoon characters and characters in those digitally animated movies won’t seem like they’re mouthing the speech anymore
I think this is really cool - imagine capturing live performances digitally in 3D as they happen from 44 different strategically positioned cameras. The time saved (manpower hours), and thus money, for a production studio is enormous. I wonder if you can use this with infra-red cameras… hmm.
